Our Story

Acquibob Farm is a family-owned working farm in Chesapeake, Virginia, established in 1942. It began as a cattle ranch raised by the Saunders family and has stayed in the same family for three generations. Over the years it grew from cattle into Arabian horses, and today the pastures are still home to horses, cows, chickens, and more.

The horses aren't going anywhere. But the younger generation has started dreaming about what the fields could grow for the community.Sterns Creek runs the length of the farm's peninsula and out into the Western Branch of the Elizabeth River, the same Western Branch so many of us call home. That quiet waterfront is where the new chapter is taking root: flowers, produce, and herbs you pick yourself, starting in three of the old horse paddocks.

Jeff was born and raised in Western Branch and grew up being loved on by the Hill family at Acquibob. Jenny moved to the area in 2016, met Jeff in 2021, and they married in 2023. When Jeff first brought her to the farm, she fell in love with the family and the open space. They cared about this place enough to move into the neighborhood just to be closer to it. Jenny stubbornly believes a community should have green space it can walk into, fresh food picked by the people who eat it, and a reason to know its neighbors.More than anything, she wants the farm to stay a farm. What she can't bear to picture is driving past one day to find the fields gone, turned into one more subdivision of big houses and grass-only yards.

Together they're dreaming up Sterns Creek Farm as a place to slow down, breathe, and reconnect: you-pick flowers and produce, room for dogs to run, gardening classes, and waterfront spots to picnic and rest. You can even walk or bike straight in from the Chesapeake Public Trail, which ends right at the farm's driveway. They want your fingerprints on it from the start. Will you join them in dreaming up what the community needs most??
